The purpose of a life coach is to help bridge the gaps in any particular area of your life. The coach is not necessarily
an expert who teaches, mentors, or counsels, but rather someone who joins you along your course, shedding light on what may lie ahead, encouraging
you to clarify, identify, and reach a goal, a dream, or a different way.
Coaching is results-oriented and highly effective because of the built-in accountability which honors your course and helps you achieve your goals. It is
also convenient because it happens over the telephone a few times a month, with some additional correspondence through email and fax.
Life coaching can be extremely helpful in the following areas:
1. Life Purpose
How confident are you in your current direction (e.g. your job/career), or your roles (e.g. husband/wife, parent)? Are there areas in your life where you desire
more fulfillment, more clarity, more freedom? Is there a gap between where you are and where you’d like to be, or between who are and who you’d like to be?
Have you become so busy, so committed to things, that there really isn’t time to give to the things you actually value? Is your life based on someone else’s
values, and not your own? Are there particular goals that you’d like to achieve? What are your core values, and how do these align with the way you’re living your life?
2. Spiritual Coaching
How do you relate to God? Are there times when God seems distant or absent? What questions do you have for God, and what questions might God have for you?
Do you have hang-ups with the Church? Do these questions or hang-ups interfere or “block” your spiritual growth? Do you want to live more in alignment with
your faith? Do you feel God is calling you?
3. Leadership and Ministry Coaching
How is your role in ministry affecting your personal life, and how is your personal life affecting your ministry? Is your leadership style working for you? Are you close to burnout?
Are you leading from your core? Are you experiencing obstacles that are keeping your ministry stuck? To what degree do your constituents own the vision?
4. Transitions
Do you find yourself on the edge of change? Are you considering a new career path? A change within your current job? Do you find yourself in the fog and aftermath
of loss? Are you wanting to chart a new course? Are you at a crossroads in life, struggling to make a decision? Would you like to simplify your life, but aren’t sure
where to begin?
5. Possibility Thinking
Have you ever asked, “what if it could be like this?” Do you have a dream that needs to be awakened and pursued? Do you feel called to something greater than your
current reality? How is your journey leading to this dream? What fears are keeping you held up?
